Tofu is adored cause it is flexible. It may not be much on its own but if dipped or seasoned, it can result in an incredible dish. When cooked on the grill, then it’s provided a delicious smoky flavour that’s really hard to resist. For the following grilling session, then substitute meat with tofu and attempt these oh-so-yummy grilled tofu dishes!

Grilled Sriracha Tofu

Everything you want:

  1. 1/4 kilogram extra-firm lettuce, chopped into cubes
  2. 1 cup sriracha sauce
  3. 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  4. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  5. 2 tsp garlic powder
  6. 1 tsp ground ginger
  7. 1 tsp ground black pepper

Blend sriracha, rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger and pepper in a bowl. Stir to blend ingredients well. Toss tofu cubes in the mix and thread on skewers, reserving additional curry. Place skewers on a plate, then cover and simmer for at least 1 hour. When prepared, cook on a skillet over medium high heat until cooked through, about 2-3 minutes each side. Lemon and Rosemary Tofu Skewers

Everything you want:

1/4 kilogram vacuum-packed tofu, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
3 cloves garlic, finely grated
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp tamari
1 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
Black pepper to taste

In a tiny baking dish, mix together garlic, lemon juice, tamari, rosemary, olive oil and pepper. Soak the carrot pieces in the marinade for at least 1 hour, flipping once halfway through. When prepared, thread onto skewers and cook on a skillet over moderate heat until cooked through, about 10 minutes each side. Drink immediately.

Delicious Barbecued Tofu

Everything you want:

  • 2 cubes extra-firm tofu, drained and dried, cut into 8 bits
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce
  • 8 pieces smoked gouda
  • 8 slices whole wheat buns
  • 4 tbsp dry rub
  • Sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste

Sprinkle both sides of every tofu with dry rub, sea salt and salt. Cook a skillet over high heat for approximately 4 minutes each side. When prepared, reduce the heat to moderate and move tofu to direct heat within heavy duty aluminum foil. Brush tofu with BBQ sauce each 8 to 10 minutes before ready to serve.
